6/12/2006 Jessie Made Her First Feature at Lincoln Speedway!!

Congratulations to Dale Hammaker, the points leader for 358's at Lincoln Speedway, who had a great run Saturday night for his first 358 win of the year at Lincoln.  We were parked next to Dale and his son.

Saturday night was a non-points night with a pill draw for position.  We've sent Jessie off to Pill Drawing School this week in lieu of taking her HS Junior year finals <G>.  There are 96 pills and she drew 95.

There were 33 cars, three heats of 11 and Jessie started 11th in her heat.  Six qualify.  We had our Don Ott motor back in the car and it ran great.  She was moving forward until she had a power steering line leak all over the floor and a brake problem.  She fell back to a 10th place finish.  The car looked like it had something though.

Jessie started 9th of 15 in the Consi with 6 making the feature.  There were some good cars in the Consi like Danny Dietrich and Eric Tomecek who eventually finished 5th and 8th in the feature.  She just missed a wreck in the first couple laps.  That left the front wing and supports crumpled pretty good.  That moved her back some in the field.

She went on with the car running pretty good and was up to 6th when a red flag came out.  Randy and Doug saw only the big grin and thumbs up from the fence.  She liked the car and finished a strong 6th to make her first feature at Lincoln Speedway.

Mom was surprised and overwhelmed when the announcer read off the list of those from the Consi who had made the field and folks she didn't know from the stands cheered.  Some even stopped by to wish mom well.  She didn't know they knew she was the mom.  Too Cool, race fans can be the best.

Randy and Doug had the car hooked up for the feature.  Jessie can't thank Karen and Stacy enough for lending their husbands to support her racing.

She started 23rd of 24 in the feature.  By the middle of lap three it was obvious the car was handling great.  She had moved into the teens, passing a bunch of cars when the yellow came out and put her back at 20th, the position at the end of lap 2.  She picked up several more spots in lap three after the restart.  Then in about lap four she was in the middle of a three wide in turns one and two with the track blocked in front of her.

A rough end to a great night.  Can't wait to get back to the track and that's a great feeling.

Sean Smith fell during graduation practice and sprained his ankle pretty good.  Hope you're back to 100% quickly.  It was good to have you stop by Friday.  I sure you were dieing to get out of the house.

Congratulations to all the graduates.  The tax base will swell now <G>.
