8/14/2006 Time to be grateful for the help and support.
It’s time to be grateful for having friends who have given and to continue to give so much of their time and resources to allow Jessie to be successful.
New to us Maxim Chassis.
This week Doug McGiffin drove half way across the country to pick up our “new to us” Maxim Chassis. Thanks Doug and thanks Stacey & Brain for allowing him to be gone. Thanks Chadd of Chadd Motorsports for bringing it the other half.
That wasn’t the end of the effort. Our friends Randy, Doug and Frank worked long hours to get it ready for Friday night at Trail Way Speedway and ready it was. Jessie loved the new Maxim Chassis. The Digna Machine 358 Sprint was hooked up Friday night.
It took a few laps for Jessie to know what to expect. The change was significant. Within a few laps she was back in 14th but came back strong as the car came in and she became comfortable with it. She was running a strong 9th and threatening to take 7th and 8th when in about lap 19 the right rear torsion arm broke ending her night. She didn’t want to come off the track. A yellow on lap 21 allowed her crew to force the issue before a bigger problem occurred. Great run on a newly setup chassis.
Congratulations Jeff Rohrbaugh on your win. Isn’t that seven? Great Job.
New shirts for sale at the track.
Suzanne (Jessie’s mom) packaged Jessie’s new T-Shirts to sell at Trail Way and Lincoln. Sally Miller was a big help Friday night in that whole new adventure for mom, thanks. There are so many great folks in racing and the Miller’s are a prime example.
Saturday Night at Lincoln
Suzanne was able to sit with the “in crowd” in “T-Shirt Row”. She had some fun selling shirts and meeting other family members of racers. It’s almost a secret society
with the same worries and concerns as well as Highs and Lows.
Jessie had a great run in the 1st heat battling for third when another car drove across her left front tire and front wing. That did a number on how well her Maxim Chassis was running. Even with the poor handling she finished 6th. There were 38 cars fighting for 24 spot on this night.
With a new front wing and some left front hub repairs the car was really hooked up in the Consi. The top three of pulled away from the others with Jessie in the third position. She was threatening to take second and looked to be as fast as the first place car. But being fast doesn’t mean you can get by. With several laps to go Jessie knew that the top four transferred to the Feature and she didn’t want to jeopardize that spot so she fell in line finishing in third.
Jessie started the feature in the back and finished a strong 17th with a motor that went sour in the first lap. Strong finish because there were 19 laps without a yellow and she was still on the lead lap, not easy from the back. It was a really strong field. She thought she touched the inside guard rail in the first lap. It turned out to be a broken push rod and lifter. Ouch!
We had a pit filled with friends from karting. Great to see each of you. Thanks for coming.
Sarah Fisher back in the IRL this past weekend.
It was good to see Sarah Fisher back in a top level race car again. Jessie met Sarah and her dad at a Karting Enuduro race at Daytona when Jessie was about 14. I’m sure Sarah meets a lot of folks and may not remember. But Sarah and her dad spent a lot of time talking to Jessie and she will never forget.
Sarah’s dad and Jessie were running Laydown Enduros that weekend on the three and one half mile road course. Jessie came away with two wins and a meeting with Sarah Fisher, pretty cool.
