8/26/2006 Tough Night at Lincoln Speedway or “Another First Out of the Way”.
Saturday Night Jessie was having a strong run in her heat at Lincoln, running third and looking strong when a caution came out about lap three or four.
She started third in the single file restart. When they came out of turn four facing the start finish line they were all on the gas just inches apart. At this point the second place car’s motor stalled sending Jessie up the back wheel and into an airborne double end over end flip only stopping in the catch fence a few feet from the grand stands (very near family and friends).
Jessie will never be able to provide the thanks appropriate to match the level of professionalism the safety and corner workers provided in their response. But her thanks she gives just the same.
She’s fine although sore.
From that point on the night showed what our competitors are all about. Racer friends from all over the pits came to help get the car repaired and able to run in the Consi. The fans in the PA are treated to some of the best racing in the country. We don’t just have great racers, we have great people on those teams. Jessie was amazed and grateful. There was someone on every bolt. Not just from the Sprint pits but stock car friends as well.
There were three drills, one grinder, hammers of all sizes, flashlights, droplights and people hanging all over.
There were 17 cars scheduled for the Consi and Jessie was the 17th car to pull out on the track, surprising many. Great job done by all. Thanks.
Jessie started 17th and needed to finish 6th or better to make the feature, a tough assignment. She ran great passing five others to finish 12th. Good hard run. Even though she missed the feature it was a great night considering the adversity over come.
There are four great shots on www.PAPosseRacing.com .
Check, Race Photos (down on the left)
Then Lincoln Speedway
Then the second and fifth pages (this week).
Page two has one in the fence and Jessie walking with the safety crew.
Page five has one on the hook and one in the Consi with the car repaired.
Now Jessie has her flip out of the way, no need to do that again.
Thanks to all involved.
