Hey! We Are
Back To Racing In 2009

The first 358
Winged Sprint race of the year for Jessie Morrison at
Lincoln
Speedway this past Saturday
afternoon might have been her first day race at Lincoln. The rain
held off until after all the racing was complete and the day turned
out very good for this first day of racing.
Morrison said “It
was great to see last years' Lincoln Points Champion
Jeff Rohrbaugh come home
with the win.”
Billy Dietrich
and Rohrbaugh were tough tonight. Billy edged
Rohrbaugh out in the heat for the win and Jeff came back in the
feature, taking the lead in about lap two.
The day went from bad to
much better for Morrison. Things started with some trouble with the
power steering and our warm up session had several mishaps that
didn’t allow us to get up to speed before the checker.
After not getting
up to speed in the warm ups and concerns about our car, Jessie opted
to start in the back of her heat. This was her first race in her
car which had been completely torn down over the winter. She
started 9th
and finished 7th
with five making the feature.
There were only
two classes on Saturday, the 410’s and the 358’s. After the last
358 heat, the 410 Consi started with the 358’s queing for their
Consi without the lineups being posted yet. When the lineup was set,
Jessie started 6th
of 15 with 4 qualifying. She had a much better run. Within a lap,
she was in the fourth and final qualifying spot and was running
well. Unknown to her, the track announced (after they were on the
track and running) that five would qualify. There were six or more
cautions during the Consi and she lost fourth to the fifth place car
during one of the restarts. She had a good run but considered
herself one out of the transfer spot and went into turn 3 and 4 much
harder than the car could take on the last lap, in hopes of making
that last spot. The car got loose and she lost fifth place, not
knowing she was in the transfer spot.
After hearing what
happened we were all a little down, just missing the feature. Then
one of those who had made the feature had a motor issue and as the
first alternate, we were in. The mood in Jessie’s pit jumped. The
guys fixed the damage to the Top Wing that occurred in the Consi and
set her up for the feature.
Jessie had a great run
in the feature on a dry slick track. She started 24th
and finished 17th
with her 20|20 Power
358 Sprint. She wanted to thank all those who came out to help and
Cody Fletcher for all the work he did to get the car ready for this
first race. Check out the pictures on the picture page.
Dave Nale with
Hammerhead Promotions
got a great shot from outside of turn three of
the
Quality Collision Repair
painted car going into the turn.
We hope to see you
all at the track. We will be at Lincoln in two weeks and then the
Trail Way Speedway season
starts the week after that.
