April 28, 2009 Two Top Tens This Weekend
and Three in a Row
It was a very busy week with school, Race Night, two
nights of racing and a Sunday showing of her 20|20 Power 358 Sprint Car at
Behnke’s Nursery. Next Jessie is headed toward semester’s end and finals.
She even has a night final on a race night, ugh. That will bring a racer to
tears.
If Jessie’s Sprint Car breaks come in threes, she
hopes to be done for a while. This week it was a throttle return spring
after a front axle and her steering the last two race weekends. Jessie was
lucky the return spring broke after warm ups and just as she was being
pushed off for her 358 Sprint Car heat. For those who don’t know the sprint
cars are push started because they don’t have starters. The car went full
throttle as it jumped from the bumper of the push truck. The backup spring,
although lighter and the toe hoop worked as she spun the car into the
infield and cut the ignition switch.
Cody, Jessie’s crew chief replaced the throttle return
spring. This put Jessie in the 23rd starting spot for the
feature. Jessie is getting better and better on a dry slick feature track.
She came from the back to a 9th place finish with several great
passes, her second top ten of the year. She tied for the Hard Charger with
Doug Hammaker who started and finished just in front of her. Joe Trone, Jr.
won on this night for his second win at Trail Way Speedway. There are some
new pictures on Jessie’s photo page.

On Saturday night Jessie won her first heat of the
year racing Daryl Winkler’s All American Outlaw 01 General Lee. Jessie said
“the car handled great with the new steering box and the setup Daryl brought
to the track”. That’s two cars this year with new steering boxes for
Jessie. Morrison was leading or in second through lap 13 of 20 lap feature
when the 3rd and 4th place cars got tangled up and
washed up the track putting her into a spin in turns 3 and 4. Then from the
back with seven to go she was able to get back to 9th, her second
top ten of the weekend and third in a row for the year. Allen Daniels went
on to his first win of the season.
On Sunday Jessie was pleased to present her car at
Behnke’s Nursery in Beltsville, Maryland with the #60 Miracle-Gro Carl
Edwards Show Car in support of Behnke’s effort to promote the American
Legion’s “Heroes to Hometowns” program supporting wounded warriors and the
members of their families. It was a fun time for all as many of the kids
that stopped by were able sit in the 650 HP sprint car and see from the
driver’s seat what the view is like. Thanks Behnke’s

Jessie’s fifth Race Night show with Daryl Winkler the
Promoter and Owner of the All American Outlaws brought his special group of
cars to the viewers of Race Night this past Tuesday night.
Jessie hopes to see you at the track this weekend.
